Your player party is wandering in the wild when, all the sudden, a beast bursts from the nearby woods and charges you. The PCs shoot it with arrows, but it keeps coming. They blast it with magic, but it keeps coming. Even as it’s upon them and they’re slashing and stabbing it with pikes, axes, and swords, it doesn’t stop. A fury of gnashing teeth and slashing claws, it mauls your cleric until, finally, its battered body collapses in death. When facing the Dire Wolverine, always expect the worst.

Underdog Muscle. The Dire Wolverine gains Advantage when entering a Strength contest with a PC or creature with a higher Strength score.
Scrapper’s Fortitude. If the Dire Wolverine is struck by an attack that drops its HP below 0, it doesn’t die. Its HP instead only drops to 1. It may only do this once per day and will be killed if it again takes damage without healing.
Multiattack. The Dire Wolverine can make two attacks per round.
Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5ft, one target. Hit: 7 (1d6 +4) slashing damage.
Grappling Bite. Melee Weapon Attack: +6 to hit, reach 5ft, one target. Hit: 8 (1d8 + 4) piercing damage. If the target is Medium or smaller, the GM should request competinStrength DCs. If the target loses, it’s grappled (escape DC 12). The Dire Wolverine may continue biting the restrained PC until the grappled ends.
There are few creatures in nature as vicious as the wolverine. Even when faced with a foe of greater strength and size, it’s rare to see one back down from combat. For this reason alone, even the most experienced of warriors give wolverines a wide berth when they stumble upon them in the wilds. When encountering a Dire Wolverine, however, most just run for their lives.
Coupling the brutal aggression of their smaller kin with a larger and more potent form, the Dire Wolverine is a beast without fear. Bears, wolves, women, men; it doesn’t matter who or what its foe is or how many there are. If something is foolish enough to enter its territory, it will kill them without mercy. Even the most skilled druids – with years of experience and wisdom to guide them – know well not to meddle with this most dire of beasts.
